Holland America’s Newest Cruise Ship Begins Sailing from Florida

Holland America’s newest cruise ship, the MS Eurodam has begun sailing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. The vessel is one of a fleet of three ships that Holland America plans to equip with both hybrid and electric engines over the next few years.

Holland America Line’s newest cruise ship is already touring the Bahamas after completing her maiden transatlantic journey on November 3. On November 5, Rotterdam set sail from her homeport of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Until May of next year, the ship will be traveling on a range of Caribbean cruises ranging in duration from five to 21 days.

Rotterdam landed at its homeport of Fort Lauderdale on November 3 after embarking on her first trip from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on October 20.

Several ports in France, Portugal, and the United Kingdom were visited during the ship’s transatlantic trip. She left for Bimini on November 5 after a day of preparation for the various processes in the United States.

“We have been looking forward to our return to the Caribbean for a long time, and having Rotterdam and our other ships resume operations out of Fort Lauderdale is a fantastic moment for our business,” says Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line. The inaugural journey of the Rotterdam from Europe was a big success, and we’ve had a lot of favorable comments from passengers.”

Gus Antorcha greeted passengers as they boarded, and a fanfare heralded the Seattle-based cruise line’s newest ship’s departure from the docks. Following her stop in Bimini, the ship will spend two days on Half Moon Cay, the company’s own island, before returning to Fort Lauderdale.

Until May 2022, Rotterdam will sail the Caribbean.

Rotterdam will stay in the Caribbean until next year when her current cruise to the Bahamas is completed. Her maiden voyage will be a full-fledged tour of the Caribbean.

She will take sail from Fort Lauderdale for St. Maarten Island in the Dutch Antilles, with stops at St. Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and Half Moon Cay to round out the voyage.

The 99,800 gross ton ship travels through the region on a trip that includes a visit to the prize-winning private resort. White-sand beaches, two-story villas, and private cabanas are all part of this charming hideaway. Guests will also have access to restaurants such as Lobster Shack, a children’s waterpark, and a choice of fun-filled excursions.

The 2,668-passenger ship offers voyages ranging from six to eleven days, which visitors may combine to create back-to-back cruises that will take them to all corners of the Caribbean for a total of 21 days.

Fincantieri, an Italian constructor, completed Rotterdam in July 2021 and turned it over to Holland America Line. She is the third cruise ship of the Pinnacle class. Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands will be the godmother, according to the cruise company. In the spring of 2022, a naming ceremony will be held.

The cruise line is currently speeding up its service restoration, after a delayed start to its restart of operations. In the Caribbean this month, Rotterdam will be joined by Nieuw Statendam and Eurodam, while Nieuw Amsterdam began sailing the Caribbean on October 23 from Fort Lauderdale.
