Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras Encounters Almost Fully Submerged Ship
The carnival cruise line news is about the Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras Encounters almost fully submerged ship.
The Mardi Gras, Carnival Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, recently spent two days at sea, allowing passengers to thoroughly explore every inch of the vessel. However, just after supper yesterday night, the ship came upon something that caught the interest of the watch officer, Captain, Hotel Manager, and Carnival’s ambassador, John Heald.
Mardi Gras Runs Into a Half-Sunken Ship and Initiates Rescue Efforts
On Monday, August 2, just after 10 p.m., Mardi Gras’ watch officer came upon an almost completely submerged ship, with only the bow visible above the water’s surface. Mardi Gras officers acted quickly since the ship was not a recognized wreck and was not noted on any maps.
The Captain quickly altered direction and searched the vessel for any indications of life, using the strong spotlights placed on the ship. There were no indications of human activity on the half-sunken vessel or in the nearby vicinity.

While cruise director Chris was doing a performance, it was left to Brand Ambassador John Heald to keep the passengers informed about what was going on on board. With the ship’s abrupt course adjustments and many flashlights scanning the water for survivors, passengers soon became aware of what was going on.
“Of course, the guests had seen this huge spectrum of light and the boat crash, and they were crowding the open decks and balconies, so I switched to soft spoken CD mode and told everyone what was going on.”
“As part of my statement, I said that we, as a business, were dedicated to assisting and assisting people in danger at sea. I stated that no distress signals had been seen, that a thorough search of the region revealed no traces of life, and that the wreck’s location had been reported to the US Coastguard. I’ll say goodbye with our hopes that all on the boat have been rescued.”
The ship proceeded on its way to Puerto Rico after doing a figure eight in search of any survivors.

At Sea Rescues
Carnival is dedicated to assisting people at sea, as John Heald said before. This has been shown many times, such as in October of last year when the Carnival Sensation rescued a tiny boat with 24 passengers on board. The boat was in trouble 37 miles off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida, in international seas.
A few months later, in November of last year, Carnival Ecstasy rescued a crew member of a small boat who had suffered numerous injuries while sailing in the Bahamas. The lengthy list of ship rescues demonstrates that, although cruising has grown very safe in the past 50 years, living at sea is nevertheless fraught with hazards.

Onboard the Mardi Gras
While the sight of a mysterious ship half-submerged in the water will certainly be remembered by visitors, it seems that life aboard Mardi Gras has been enjoyable for both passengers and staff.

“Last night demonstrated once again how wonderfully engineered this ship is,” John Heald remarked. Everyone was out having a good time, eating and drinking, and taking in the live music and performances, as well as the first round of Family Feud. Cucina del Capitano and ChiBang provided delicious meals at no additional cost, with each restaurant feeding 400 ( Cuccina) and 600 ( Chiang) guests, all of whom were treated to excellent service and delicious cuisine.“
“The crew is still getting to know the galley, service, and menus, so things can only improve, and it’s easy to forget that this is the inaugural voyage of a completely new class of ship, and the first time these talented men and women have worked like this in 17 months.”
On her first-ever port of call, Mardi Gras is in Puerto Rico today. Following this stop, Carnival’s newest mega-ship will cruise to Amber Cove, Dominican Republic, and then to Nassau, Bahamas, after a day at sea. On August 7, she is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral.
